ASHTANGA VINYASA YOGA

 

The genius series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is an ideal of a dynamic Vinyasa Yoga practice, developed by Pattabhi Jois, according to the teachings he received in the 1930s from Sri T. Krishnamacharya. 


Possibly - in the beginning, it has been taught more playfully and open for individual variations (as early students say). Today hundreds of students journey to Mysore, India to practice Ashtanga Yoga. They are young and talented - and can enjoy going straight along the Primary series or Intermediate - in the way it is taught by Sharath Jois.

 

I spent one and a half happy ambitioned years there in Mysore - until 2014, when I received the authorisation level II from Sharath Jois.

 

I am teaching dedicated Yogi/nis exactly along that way!

 

But most Yogi/nis - of any ages - need a slower approach - and this is just as Sri T. Krishnamacharyas Yoga has transmitted the yoga - with a certain sequencing - which shows the detailled steps, to maybe reach a certain posture.

 

Sticking tight to the Mysore flow - we do adaptations if necessary - according to the persons capacity and life-circumstances - to transmit the postures adequate and reachable - creating space for openness, happiness and a supportive and healthy step-by-step development.

 

As Pattabhi Jois said
"Everybody can practice ... Ashtanga Yoga!"
